I was initially going to dismiss the report when I saw a former colleague’s postscript to one of his recent blog posts corroborating the story, and quickly found that other sites like Engadget had also picked up the story.. I would just like to take this opportunity, as a former Apple employee, to state for the record that while this is awesome, and that I had not been particularly interested in owning an iPhone, you current Apple employees are all fuckers. Now, if you’ll excuse me, I have to go finish my bowl of sour grapes.

Well the 8Gb retails for 699. I believe that would be a taxable event. Taxed at the 40% rate. Keep hope alive that their bliss is not complete!

Maybe so… but remember when they gave the iPod shuffles away? Apple paid the tax on those. I’d suspect they’d do the same for the iPhone.

Yep, no problem, that’s why I took the picture. I thought you might want it. Oh yea, not to be technical, but the 8 gb retails for $599, and the 4 gb for $499. The point is that the cost to Apple is lower than the retail price, plus they have a tax deduction added to that so it only costs Apple a few hundred dollars, if that, to give the iPhone away to their employees. |
