Lay That Funky Shit Down
Filed under (Random Mutations) by The Cubelodyte on November 21, 2007 @ 10:08 am

platform shoesSay what you will about the 1970s, but it cannot be denied that children’s programming (Sesame Street in particular, but also the Electric Company) laid down some serious funk from time to time.

Perhaps it’s just nostalgic thinking, but I often regard this much more highly than the hypersaccharine Elmo/Barney singsong pap that’s squeezed out these days.

You know, after finding this video this morning there’s been a jive sort of spring in my step. The song has been going nonstop through my head all day, and, God help me, I like it.

Dude that song rocks man. I remember the song but I don’t remember that whole video… The current day version of this type of stuff is on Yo Gabba Gabba. There are tons or totally rad old school references.

Wow…. looks like a ‘proof of concept’ for what became Yellow Submarine! Great Stuff!
